Uludag is built beneath Bursa ( The Great Mountain), the first winter sports resort of Turkey.It maintains this distinction to this day.In the ancient times Uludag was known as Mysia Olympus,while in Ottoman times it was alsocalled Kesis Dagi.
Its current name was given after the founding of the Turkish Republic in 1923. Uludag's skiing centre can be reached by road or cable car.Once you arrive , you will find a wide assortment of hotels,starting at five star.The distance from hotel region to the centre of Bursa and airport is 35 km.
Not only does the 2,545 metre hight Uludag have snow skiing,in recent years grass skiing has been introduced as well.There are many pastoral restaurants on the mountain, frequented by locals in spring and summer as part of a day trip.
it is possible to rent out skiing equipment and organise to take lessons through most hotels. Hotels also have first aid centres and doctors available in case of accidents resulting from overindulgence in winter sports.
