Mus is located nearby
Murat and Karasu rivers in Eastern Anatolia Region.It has the third largest plain
which has extraordinary natural beauty full of green places between mountains after
Igdir.If you go up to the further there is a forest which has a river takes you
totaly into a different world.You can taste the best flavour of fruits and vegetables
which is not hormoned.The names of mountains include Bingol Mountains, Otluk Mountains,
Hacres (Karacavus, Cavus) Mountains, Yakupaga Mountains.Live stock production is

along the Murat River.Mus, Bulanik, Liz, Malazgirt are important grassy plains of

is divided into 5 districts which are Bulanik, Malazgirt, Varto, Haskoy and Korkut.
The province dates back to the 6th century AD.The city has still the remains of
citadels and Aslanhane Caravanserai.Attractive Mosques such as Alaeddin Pasa, Haci
Seref and Ulu Mosque from Seljuks are available .Urartu, Median, Persian, Byzantine,
Sasani civilizations had been the first inhabitians in Mus.After 1071 Malazgirt
(Manzikert) Battle between Sejuk and Anatolian Turkish civilizations had entered
the Anatolia and Mus had become under the reign of Turkish civilizations.Ottoman
Empire, following 1515 Caldiran Battle, had entered Mus province.
The town of Malazgirt is known as a famous battle which allowed the first Turks
setting their foot in Anatolia.Manzikert was the center of trading poat of the ancient
kingdom of Armenia at that time.The Byzantine emperor Romanus IV warred against
the emperor of Seljuks Sultan Alp Arslan.Sultan Alp Arslan offered a peace agreement
before the battle because the Romanus was insisting on unreliable Norman mercenaries.The
emperor refused the agreement.After the unavoidable battle, Alp Arslan banished
Byzantines from the Anatolia..This victory helped Turks to enter the Anatolia. And
this date is important and is thought of the beginning of the Turks and that of
Islam in Anatolia.After this date Turks captured the whole Anatolia completely and
following that time founded the Anatolian Seljuk state.
